neighboorhood; many who lived the community; neighborhood

The headline of the article ("Recognition sought for black neighbourhood" on CBC News online on October 12, 2010) has the word neighbourhood, which is the proper Canadian - from British English - spelling of the word. (Click here for -our/-or spelling differences.) However,

that word gets transformed into a nonword in the article's second sentence. Later in the article,

that headline word gets transformed into the American English spelling. Plus a missing word (in should be between lived and the) is thrown in - or, rather, tossed out - to supply some variation. Click an image to enlarge it.
