Raif Mair

Last week, an overflow crowd of over 1,000 attended a public meeting in Pitt Meadows on the proposal to put power lines through Pinecone Burke Provincial Park. Loggers, treehuggers, natives and everyday folks gathered to tell representatives of Northwest Cascade Power Ltd. and the B.C. government where they could stick their high-tension lines. Former broadcaster Raif Mair brought his firebreathing populism to the microphone, along with a conga line of indignant speakers.
